I’ve been thinking about these two games lately and wanted to get some opinions from the community. Looking back now, how do you feel about Dark Souls 2 compared to the first game? What aspects of DS2 do you think were improvements over the original? On the flip side, why do you think so many fans were let down by the sequel when it first came out? I’m curious about different perspectives on this since both games have their loyal fanbases. What made each game special in its own way? Would love to hear what you all think about how these two compare to each other.
Dark Souls 1 has unbeatable atmosphere, but DS2’s way better for trying different builds. Both are great for different reasons.
DS1’s world design is incredible; everything connects perfectly and feels natural. DS2 has some janky level layouts that bugged me, but the combat’s way more polished. Power stance was awesome and I’m still mad they dropped it. For atmosphere and world building, though, DS1 wins hands down.
DS2 gets way too much hate. Yeah, the hitboxes were janky, but the DLC areas? Some of the best content in the entire series.
