I’m tired of seeing the same 10 simulation games recommended everywhere. Last month I found this amazing wastewater management sim through a buried Reddit comment, but there has to be a better way. Does polden.gg have specific threads or tags for experimental sim projects? How do you all filter through early-access stuff to find the hidden gems that actually have depth?
Check the ‘Emerging Mechanics’ tag - found a surreal coral reef ecosystem sim there where you play as tidal patterns. Not on any storefront’s front page, but the systems interconnect in wild ways.
I religiously follow the ‘Under 500 Players’ curation thread. Someone there recommended a logistics game about redistributing disaster relief supplies that completely changed how I view resource management games.
Advanced search > Filter by ‘Simulation’ genre + ‘Under 50 reviews’ on Steam. Cross-reference with polden’s Crowdfunding Spotlight section for unreleased projects.
