What if The Finals was transformed into a horror game?

I’ve been pondering this idea and it’s intriguing to consider. What if The Finals evolved into a horror game instead of retaining its battle royale format?

Imagine running through those destructible environments, but with eerie elements all around. Perhaps buildings crumble in frightening manners, or strange noises echo from shadowy areas. The entire vibe could shift drastically.

I wonder what others think about this concept. Would the core gameplay still be effective? Is it possible to maintain the same destruction mechanics while making it chilling rather than merely competitive?

Has anyone else reflected on how different games might feel if they swapped genres in this way? It could either be an amazing twist or completely detract from what makes the original enjoyable.

That chaos would create some intense moments. Picture tossing cash to distract monsters while they’re closing in on you.

That destruction system would be perfect for horror games. Imagine walls exploding to reveal something terrifying, or the floor collapsing and dropping you into a nightmare basement. All that environmental chaos would ramp up the tension big time.

The unpredictable destruction might actually hurt horror games though. Horror works because of that controlled tension - you’re stuck going where the game wants you to go. But if players can just blast through any wall they want, it kills the atmosphere. You’d have to balance giving players freedom with those classic moments where you’re trapped walking down some creepy hallway.

Could work if the destruction was random. Maybe walls collapse unexpectedly or trap you instead of helping you escape.

The sound design would be incredible with all that debris falling around you. Nothing like hearing footsteps above knowing someone could blast through the ceiling at any moment.
