I’ve been thinking about this lately and wondering what other fans would want to see. Dark Souls 2 had some great ideas but also some issues that could be fixed in a remake.
Personally, I think the hitboxes could use some work, and maybe they could improve the enemy placement in certain areas. The graphics and lighting system would obviously get an upgrade too.
What about you guys? Are there any specific mechanics you’d want them to rework? Any areas that need better design? Or maybe some content that should be added or removed?
I’m curious to hear what the community thinks would make a hypothetical remake worth playing again.
Power stancing could have been awesome, but it ended up feeling pretty limited with the combos. Most weapon pairs just didn’t deliver like they should have. And the covenant system? Total flop. Many didn’t even work online, and a lot were just rehashed from DS1 without any new ideas.
The teleporting from the start felt weird too. Exploration wasn’t as rewarding when you could just warp around. DS1 did it better by making you unlock it later.
Yeah, backstab animations definitely need fixing. It’s ridiculous how hit detection works in some places. And those gank squads in Iron Keep can be really annoying. Less cheese and more fair fights would be nice.
I feel you on weapon durability. It was such a hassle when weapons kept breaking and made the game feel more frustrating than fun. Also, some bosses could definitely use some love, especially the ones that felt unfair like the Bed of Chaos. Plus, the world design didn’t connect well, unlike the tight-knit levels in Dark Souls 1.
Totally agree about adaptability. It was a strange choice that didn’t feel right. Locking I-frames behind leveling just didn’t mesh well with the flow of the series. And yes, Soul Memory is a big issue for co-op and PvP. Going back to soul level matchmaking would definitely bring back that classic Dark Souls feel. Fingers crossed they make those changes if a remake happens!
