What are your theories about the Atlanta Safe Zone?

I’ve been thinking about what happened to Atlanta after everything went down. In my mind, I imagine Atlanta became the biggest and most secure settlement left in the country. While other quarantine zones probably fell apart or got abandoned over time, Atlanta managed to keep going strong. I picture it as having the most survivors and being really well organized compared to everywhere else. Maybe it even became like the last real functioning city on the whole continent years later when all the other safe zones were just empty ruins. What do you guys think happened there? Do you have your own ideas about how Atlanta turned out different from the other quarantine areas?

I think Atlanta struggled too. It’s hard to keep a large area safe with so many people. Smaller groups might last longer.

The CDC being there might have made Atlanta special compared to other zones. Having all those medical facilities and research labs could have given them a real edge in dealing with the outbreak.

Atlanta probably had supply line advantages being such a major hub city before everything collapsed. All those highways and rail connections could have kept resources flowing in from the surrounding areas for way longer than other zones. But honestly I think the sheer population density would have been a nightmare to manage. More people means more conflicts, more mouths to feed, and way more chances for things to go sideways fast.
