What are some recent standout indie horror games and their best features?

Hey fellow horror fans! I’m on the hunt for some fresh indie scares. We all know the big names like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, but I’m curious about the hidden gems.

I’ve heard whispers about a game called Mouthwashing, but I’m sure there are more out there. What indie horror games have you played lately that really got under your skin?

I’m especially interested in hearing about what made these games stand out. Was it the atmosphere? The story? Some clever game mechanic that kept you on edge?

Share your recommendations and tell me what aspect of the game you think the developers really nailed. I’m always amazed at how small teams can sometimes create experiences that are just as intense as the big budget titles. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Visage is a standout for me. It nails the psychological horror vibe, with a house that changes as you play. The atmosphere is suffocating, and the way it messes with your head is top-notch.

Layers of Fear 2 is another good one. The constantly shifting environment keeps you on edge, and the story really draws you in.

Both games do a great job of building tension without relying on cheap jump scares.

I’ve been digging Mundaun lately. It’s got this creepy hand-drawn art style that really sets the mood. The puzzles are pretty cool too, not too hard but keep you thinking. Definitely worth checking out if you want something different.

Phasmophobia’s been my go-to lately. The co-op ghost hunting is a blast, and the voice recognition adds a whole new level of immersion. Gets pretty intense when things start going south!

Devotion’s another good one. The Taiwanese setting gives it a unique vibe, and the way it plays with your perception is super freaky. Not your typical jump scare fest, but it’ll mess with your head for sure.

Lost in Vivo is pretty intense. The sound design is top-notch.

Really messes with your head in tight spaces. Definitely worth a look if you’re into psychological horror.
