Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about this since I’ve noticed some confusion in recent posts. The R.E.P.O. game available on PlayStation Store is not the authentic version that’s been getting attention online.
The PlayStation version is called “R.E.P.O.: Ghost Haul” and comes from Adventure Games S.R.I. This is completely different from the legitimate R.E.P.O. game on Steam which is made by semiwork. These are two totally separate games despite the similar names.
The real developers at semiwork mentioned in a recent YouTube video that they have no current plans to bring their game to consoles. They want to finish early access and reach version 1.0 first before considering console ports. So right now, PC is the only way to play the actual R.E.P.O. game.
This seems to be a growing problem on PlayStation Store where copycat games try to cash in on popular titles. I’ve seen similar issues with other games like Schedule 1, Lethal Company, and various simulator games. Sony really should have better quality control to prevent these misleading releases, especially given their strict refund policies.
Saw this happening with a bunch of indie horror games too. These copycats usually have worse graphics and gameplay but similar enough names to fool people scrolling quickly.
This kind of stuff is so annoying. I’ve almost been burned by these knockoffs before, especially when they show up in search results right next to the real game. The PlayStation Store really needs to crack down on this because it’s basically trademark trolling at this point. Thanks for the warning though, definitely saving people some money and disappointment.
The whole copycat game situation is getting ridiculous. I remember when the PlayStation Store actually felt curated instead of just a dumping ground for whatever random stuff gets submitted. It’s wild that they’re stricter about refunds than they are about letting obvious knockoffs through in the first place.
