Users will receive notifications when consistently liking prohibited posts on Reddit

I recently found out that Reddit is going to start warning users who frequently upvote content that goes against their rules. This is quite different from how it used to be. I’m really interested in how this process will function. Will users receive several warnings before any consequences are imposed? How does Reddit define “repeatedly” upvoting content that has been banned? Also, does this rule apply to posts that get taken down after being upvoted, or only to ones that were obviously against the rules from the start? Has anyone come across more information about this update or how it will be put into action? I’m eager to know what this means for everyday users who might accidentally engage with off-limits content.

Wonder if they’ll actually follow through or if it’s just another policy that gets forgotten about.

Honestly, this just feels like another data grab on user behavior. How else would they track this without monitoring everything you do? Pretty invasive if you ask me. And given how inconsistent their moderation is, I’m expecting tons of false positives where people get flagged for upvoting stuff that seemed totally fine.

I get what you mean. It does sound tricky to monitor that without crossing lines. Seems like Reddit is just piling on rules instead of focusing on better content moderation.

This could hit gaming subreddits too. Posts about controversial games or mods get flagged randomly - upvote enough of those and you might get caught up in it.
