Unexpected scare factor in this game caught me off guard

Hey everyone,

I recently started playing this new game, and wow, I was not prepared for what I got into! I thought it was going to be a chill adventure or something, but nope. This thing is scary as heck!

Has anyone else had this happen to them? You know, when you pick up a game thinking it’s one thing, and it turns out to be way more terrifying than you expected? I’m talking jump scares, creepy atmosphere, the works.

I’m not sure if I should keep playing or not. Part of me wants to see what happens next, but another part of me is too chicken to go on. Any advice from fellow gamers who’ve been in this situation before?

Also, do you guys think game descriptions should come with some kind of ‘scare level’ warning? It might help scaredy-cats like me avoid heart attacks in the future!

Sounds familiar! Happened with Bioshock.

Thought it’d be a cool underwater city game.

Turns out, creepy as heck. Big Daddies still give me chills.

Stick with it if the story grabs you. Might surprise yourself!

Man, I’ve been there. Happened to me with Doki Doki Literature Club. Went in thinking it was just another visual novel, but holy crap did it get dark.

If you’re into the story, maybe try playing with the lights on or during the day. Could help ease the tension a bit.

As for scare level warnings, I’m kinda torn. Part of me likes the surprise, but I get why some folks would want a heads up.

Totally get that. Happened with Prey.

Thought it’d be standard sci-fi. Ended up paranoid about every coffee mug.

Keep playing if the story’s good. Maybe lower the volume?

I feel you on that unexpected scare factor. Happened to me with Outer Wilds. Thought it’d be a fun space exploration game, but some parts had me on edge. If you’re into the story, maybe try playing during the day? Sometimes that helps take the edge off.

Oh man, that’s happened to me a bunch. I picked up Subnautica thinking it’d be a chill underwater game. Next thing I know, I’m panicking every time I hear a roar in the distance. Ended up loving it though. Maybe stick with it if you’re feeling brave?
