I’ve been looking into the story behind the zombie outbreak. At first I thought the virus only spread through bites and later mutated to become airborne. But after checking the radio broadcasts and news reports I found something interesting.
It looks like the virus was always airborne and the government knew about it. There’s evidence that people were getting sick before any zombies showed up. For example on July 1st kids were out of school with fevers.
The really big thing I noticed is about the soldiers. There are hints that they got infected early on. One guy talks about waking up in a military base to find blood everywhere and zombies in the soldier dorms.
This might explain why the virus spread so fast. The infected soldiers were the ones guarding the quarantine zone. They probably spread it without knowing.
When the virus went global it first showed up in places with lots of US troops like England, Japan, and South Korea. This supports the idea that the military was spreading it.
What do you guys think? Could the soldiers have been the main reason the virus couldn’t be stopped?
That’s a cool theory about the Knox outbreak. Makes you wonder how many other zombie stories could play out like that in real life. Soldiers and first responders would be right in the danger zone.
Military bases could become outbreak hotspots fast. Scary stuff to think about.
Wow, that’s a solid theory. I’ve played through the game a bunch of times but never connected those dots. The military spreading it without knowing makes a ton of sense. It’d explain why quarantine failed so spectacularly. Kinda gives me vibes of The Last of Us with the military’s role in things. Makes me want to replay and pay closer attention to the lore now.
Interesting theory about the Knox outbreak. It’s cool how much depth there is to the lore when you dig into it. The idea of infected soldiers spreading it makes a lot of sense gameplay-wise too. I wonder if we’ll ever get to play as military characters and see that side of things. Could add a whole new dimension to the early outbreak phase.
