Public Announcement: Help for Partners Struggling with Split Fiction Difficulty

I wanted to mention something that could assist other players who are tackling Split Fiction with their partners. My wife had a hard time and felt upset during some boss battles, which was surprising since we managed to finish It Takes Two twice without any notable problems.

We found some useful options in the settings that made a big difference. Firstly, in the accessibility menu, you can adjust two important features:

Individual player difficulty setting - This allows each player to have reduced damage from enemies. When you select a lower difficulty, it significantly reduces the chances of dying in combat, making the experience much more enjoyable.

Option to skip to the next checkpoint - If you’re stuck on a part of the game, there’s a feature that lets you bypass to the next checkpoint. Checkpoints are close enough that you hardly miss any gameplay or storyline.

We only used the skip option once during a difficult jumping puzzle where I had my own struggles, and it was a lifesaver. The damage reduction feature, however, completely changed our combat experience, turning it from frustrating to fun.

I believe many players might not be aware of these handy features and could be giving up too soon. The developers seemed to have considered different player skill levels. Have others found these settings beneficial as well? I’d love to hear your experiences.

Wish more co-op games did this. Nothing kills the fun like one person dying constantly while the other gets frustrated waiting around. Smart move by the devs - you can adjust your difficulty without messing with your partner’s challenge.

Had no idea these options existed. Might jump back in with my partner - we dropped it pretty early.

Good call posting this. My buddy and I almost quit Split Fiction when the difficulty spike hit us out of nowhere. We’re both decent gamers but those boss fights were absolutely brutal. Had no clue about the individual difficulty settings until we were already pissed off. Why don’t they make these features more obvious? They’re clearly meant for exactly this situation.

Same here - these features saved my playthrough. The damage reduction doesn’t feel like cheating, just makes it actually playable.

Split Fiction is way harder than It Takes Two. Those accessibility options are a lifesaver - they keep co-op from turning into a rage fest.

Honestly, these settings should be right in the main menu
