Nobody warned me that Nightreign would be this scary

I just started playing Nightreign and wow, I was not prepared for how terrifying this game actually is. When I first heard about it, people were discussing the gameplay mechanics and the cool features, but nobody mentioned that it’s essentially a complete horror experience.

I’m only a few hours in and I’ve already jumped multiple times from scary moments that made me nearly drop my controller. The atmosphere is really creepy and the sound effects make everything even more intense. Every time I turn a corner, I’m anxious about what might suddenly appear.

Did everyone think I already knew this was a horror game? Because I definitely did not expect this high level of stress when I bought it. Don’t get me wrong, the game is well crafted, but I wish someone had warned me about what I was getting into.

Yeah, they definitely sold it as more of an action game at first. The horror creeps up on you for sure. I was surprised by how tense it got, especially when you least expect it.

Chapter 3’s jump scares got me too. Shouldn’t have played at night.

Just wait until you hit the basement level. It’s a real nightmare down there.

I get what you mean. The marketing definitely played up the action side while keeping the horror under wraps. You think you’re in for a fun adventure, and then it hits you with those eerie moments out of nowhere. It really ramps up the tension when you’re not expecting it.

Same thing happened to me! Went in thinking it’d be just another adventure game and ended up playing with all the lights on. Those audio cues really mess with you.
