Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for simulator games that go beyond just entertainment. I want something that can teach me real-world skills, even if they might seem random or useless at first glance.
I’m thinking about those super detailed work simulators. You know, the ones where you learn to use heavy machinery or operate specific vehicles. But I’m not sure which ones are actually good and which are just low-quality cash grabs.
It doesn’t have to be all about vehicles though. I’m open to any kind of simulator that can give me practical knowledge. And here’s the kicker - it doesn’t even need to be fun! I’m more interested in the learning aspect than having an engaging career mode or gamified experience.
The dream is to play these games and come away with skills I could use in some bizarre real-life scenario. Like, imagine if I suddenly needed to operate a backhoe or fly a plane to save the day!
Any suggestions? What are your experiences with these kinds of simulators?
I’ve been playing a lot of Euro Truck Simulator 2 lately. It’s pretty chill, but you actually learn about reading maps, backing up trailers, and even some basic economics. Might come in handy if you ever need to make a quick getaway in a big rig!
I’ve sunk way too many hours into flight sims over the years. X-Plane 11 is pretty solid if you want something close to the real deal. It’s not exactly a thrill ride, but you’ll definitely pick up some legit knowledge about flying.
For something a bit different, try PC Building Simulator. It’s surprisingly accurate and you might actually learn how to put together a real computer. Could come in handy someday.
I’ve been digging into Train Simulator lately. It’s pretty hardcore with all the controls and signals. Probably won’t ever drive a real train, but it’s cool learning how they work. Maybe useful if I’m ever stuck on a runaway train or something!
Try Kerbal Space Program. It’s not just fun, but you’ll learn real orbital mechanics and rocket science. Surprisingly useful for impressing at parties!
