Looking for games with amazing storylines and emotional moments

Hey everyone! I recently wrapped up Red Dead Redemption 2 and I’ve also been through Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last of Us. Out of these three, The Last of Us really hit me the hardest emotionally, but honestly all of them had fantastic stories that kept me hooked.

Now I’m on the hunt for my next gaming experience that focuses heavily on narrative with those gut-punch moments and unexpected plot twists that make you sit back and think. I’ve been considering a few options like Alan Wake 2 (though I’m worried about jumping in without playing the original), The Witcher 3, or Ghost of Tsushima.

What would you all suggest? I’m open to any genre as long as the story is compelling and has those memorable moments that stick with you long after you finish playing. Thanks for any recommendations you can share!

Mass Effect trilogy is probably what you’re looking for. The character relationships you build over three games make some of the later decisions absolutely brutal. I still think about some of the choices I made years ago.

Also throw What Remains of Edith Finch on your list. It’s short but man does it pack an emotional punch. Each family story hits different and the ending will mess you up in the best way possible.

Life is Strange destroyed me emotionally. Also try Firewatch for something shorter but really memorable.

Detroit Become Human messed me up pretty good. The branching storylines mean your choices actually matter and some paths get really dark. Also NieR Automata is weird but the story goes places you won’t expect.
