Looking for an old mobile pixel game with dystopian setting from around 2010

Hey everyone! I need help finding this mobile game I used to play years ago. It was a pixel art style game with a dystopian theme where you played as a character who had to do different tasks and missions to get items and move forward in the story.

The main character wore some kind of strange helmet or headgear that looked pretty unique. The game was free to download but you needed to purchase the complete version to get all the content.

What I remember most is that the gameplay involved doing various jobs and quests so you could use an elevator system to reach different floors or levels. Each level represented a different social class or tier in this dystopian world. The graphics were all done in a retro pixel art style and the game had a vertical layout.

This is probably a pretty obscure game but I’m hoping someone here might remember it and can tell me the name. Thanks for any help!

Yeah I think you might be looking for République actually. That game had the whole dystopian elevator thing going on and the character design sounds right. It was pretty cool how you moved between different security levels.

Sounds like you’re thinking of The Machine maybe? That had the whole class system thing and weird helmet character.

Could be Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP? That one had the pixelated dystopian vibe and episodic content you had to buy. The helmet description rings a bell too.

Or maybe you’re thinking of République? That was more 3D but had similar themes about social tiers and surveillance state stuff. The protagonist had distinctive headgear and you definitely did missions to progress through different areas.

Both were pretty popular around that time period so might be worth checking out.

That sounds like it could be DEVICE 6. It has that dystopian feel along with the elevator stuff you mentioned. The pixel art is spot on too, and it was one of those freemium games from back then.
