So I finally completed this legendary JRPG that everyone talks about. Made by some of the biggest names in gaming back in 1995, this game really deserves all the praise it gets. I was not prepared for how much it would affect me emotionally.
The Story
The whole game revolves around jumping between different time periods to stop a world-ending disaster. You play as Crono and meet various companions as you hop from prehistoric times all the way to a dark future timeline. What makes it special is how your decisions actually matter and lead to different outcomes. The game was way ahead of its time with multiple endings and meaningful choices. I also loved that enemies appear on the map instead of random battles popping up constantly.
Visuals and Sound
The art style is incredible and each time period feels unique and alive. The music is absolutely phenomenal and really drives home the emotional moments. Songs like the theme for Frog and Corridors of Time are just perfect.
Characters
Every party member feels real and has their own struggles. Frog deals with redemption, Robo questions what it means to be human, and Lucca breaks stereotypes as a brilliant inventor. Marle became my favorite with her strong personality and refusal to just accept things as they are.
This game completely lives up to its reputation as one of the best RPGs ever made.
