A police case was filed on September 11 at Raidurgam police station in a confidential manner since the victim was underage when the incidents occurred. The accused choreographer has worked on hit numbers including ‘Butta Bomma’ and ‘Arabic Kuthu’ featuring popular stars. He received a national recognition for Best Choreography for ‘Megham Karukaatha’ from Thiruchitrambalam in August 2024.
The victim reported that she moved to Hyderabad in 2017. After participating in the dance reality show ‘Dhee’, she got contacted by the choreographer’s team to work as an assistant. A support organization helping the victim confirmed she was 16 when the first assault occurred in 2019.
She started working as his assistant in 2019. During a Mumbai shoot, he allegedly assaulted her at their hotel. He threatened to fire her and destroy her career prospects if she spoke about it.
The complaint states she faced continuous harassment and assault during every project. When she resisted his advances, he would abuse her both mentally and physically. He would inappropriately touch her in public on sets.
Once he reportedly banged her head against a mirror when she refused. The victim said he stalked her, damaged her property, and pressured her to marry him after changing her religion.
These incidents made her look for other work opportunities. Later, he and his wife visited her house where his wife allegedly attacked her.
On August 17, unknown people threatened her, and on August 28, she got a warning note saying “Congratulations on the song but be very careful.”
She finally filed the police complaint because she couldn’t find work in the industry anymore. Women in Telugu cinema have been demanding the release of a government committee report about women’s working conditions. Now that this 21-year-old has spoken up, everyone is watching how authorities will respond.
