I recently observed changes made to the wiki page for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst that appear to reflect a political bias. The game takes place in a futuristic dystopian setting, but there have been new additions regarding ‘outdated ideologies’ which weren’t present during my last visit months ago. Has anyone else encountered similar edits on wiki pages that seem to promote specific political views? It’s disappointing when accurate information about a game is altered to fit someone’s agenda. The initial lore was satisfactory without these new elements.
Wikis can be a pain sometimes with random edits like that. I usually just stick to the official game materials for lore stuff since they don’t change randomly.
I’ve noticed this kind of thing with other game wikis too. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s actual canon versus someone’s interpretation of themes. For a game like Mirror’s Edge where there’s definitely political undertones baked into the world building, it gets tricky separating what the devs actually put in there from what editors think it all means.
It’s frustrating how wikis can deviate from the actual game lore. I usually check a few different sources when I’m researching, since some editors like to put their own spin on things that can really muddy the water.
Mirror’s Edge was always pretty political though, the whole corporate surveillance state thing is central to the story
Yeah this happens pretty regularly across gaming wikis unfortunately. People love to inject their own interpretations into articles instead of just sticking to what’s actually in the game. I’ve seen it with tons of sci-fi games where editors try to draw modern political parallels that weren’t necessarily intended by the developers. Best bet is probably to check the edit history and see if you can revert problematic changes if they’re not properly sourced.
