Hey everyone! I’m looking to try out some new horror games, but I want to steer clear of the big-name titles. I’m really interested in finding some hidden gems from smaller game studios or indie developers. What are some scary games that you’ve played that maybe don’t get as much attention, but still gave you a good fright? I’d love to hear about any that left a lasting impression on you or had unique gameplay elements. Thanks for sharing your recommendations!
Heard of Little Nightmares? Not super mainstream but really creepy. The art style and atmosphere are pretty unsettling. Puzzles and stealth keep you on edge the whole time.
Ever tried Darkwood? It’s a top-down survival horror that’s seriously underrated. The atmosphere is super tense, and the night cycle is genuinely terrifying. No jumpscares, just pure dread. The crafting and exploration add depth too. Definitely worth checking out if you want something different in the horror genre.
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is pretty freaky. It’s not as famous as the first one, but the atmosphere and story are great. The sound design alone will give you chills.
Soma is a hidden gem. Underwater sci-fi horror with a mind-bending story. Keeps you on edge without relying on jump scares.
Layers of Fear really creeped me out. Not super well-known, but the psychological horror and shifting environments are intense.
