I’m a big fan of survival horror games, especially ones with zombies and monsters. But I’ve noticed something weird. No matter how many I play, I never really feel scared. Not even with the classics that everyone says are super creepy!
I always thought maybe I was just used to it, you know? But then I hear other people talk about how they still get freaked out even after playing tons of these games.
So I’m curious, what’s your experience? Do you actually get scared when you play these kinds of games? Or are you like me and find them fun but not really frightening?
Let me know what you think. I’d love to hear if I’m the odd one out or if others feel the same way!
I feel you on that. Most horror games don’t scare me much anymore either. But man, Amnesia: The Dark Descent still gives me the creeps. Something about that game just gets under my skin every time I play it.
I’m usually not scared by horror games either. The ones that do get me though are the ones with really good sound design. Those ambient noises and sudden audio cues can really mess with your head!
I get what you mean. For me, it depends on the game and my mindset. Some nights I’m totally immune to the scares, but other times I’m jumping at every little noise.
Atmosphere is key. Games that build tension slowly and mess with your head tend to freak me out more than ones with constant jump scares.
Also, playing alone in the dark with headphones cranks up the fear factor big time. Maybe give that a shot if you want more of a scare?
Totally get it. Some games nail the creepy vibe but aren’t actually scary. I find psychological horror hits harder than monsters jumping out. Playing at night with good audio makes a huge difference too.
Man, I’m with you on this. Most horror games don’t really get to me anymore. But every now and then one comes along that just nails the atmosphere and gets under my skin. Silent Hill 2 still creeps me out to this day.
